Starting from the beginning, I was born and raised on a small horse farm in rural North Idaho. Not a usual beginning for a classical singer! But my path has brought me here, and I am so blessed that it has!
I graduated with my BA in Voice Performance from Whitworth University where I studied under Dr. Amy Porter and Dr. Scott Miller. During my time there I was blessed to work as a Teaching Assistant for multiple classes and participate in multiple performance opportunities. I recently graduated with my MM in Music (Voice Performance) at the University of Idaho, where I studied under Dr. Christopher Pfund, Dr. Michelle Lange, and Dr. Stephan Gordon. During my time there, I was given the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant, through this I gained teaching experience, and was able to develop my own teaching style. I was also able to perform in opera roles that grew me, both vocally and as a person, more than I ever could have imagined.
Throughout the last few years, I have performed in several operas including The Magic Flute (The Queen of the Night), The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), Carmen and the Bull (Ferdinand's Mom). I have also been active in Musical Theater with roles including Marian Paroo (The Music Man), and Lucie Mannette (The Tale of Two Cities). Some of my most recent roles were Nancy from Oliver! and Ella from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Both of these roles provided me with a great growing experience. For the role of Nancy, I had to learn to belt, which was something I had always wanted to learn, but had never done before (being a classical soprano). It has been wonderful exploring how to perform a new technique in a healthy way, and I look forward to helping more people learn the same skills I have learned.
In my free time, I love working with my horses, and going for trail rides in the mountains. If you ever have a question about animals (specifically horses), be careful about asking me! I might keep talking for a while and your question will be more than thoroughly answered!
